The Gibault joint is the reference fitting for maintenance work on older water supply networks. It has been designed specifically to provide a flexible, watertight mechanical joint between two plain ends of asbestos cement pipe, a material common in infrastructure that is several decades old.
Its design, consisting of a central sleeve and two side rings in GG-25 grey cast iron, allows simple assembly. As the studs are tightened, the natural rubber rings expand and conform to the surface of the pipe, ensuring a tight seal even on pipes with irregular surfaces.
This joint not only repairs, but also provides slight angular flexibility at the joint, an important advantage when working with rigid and often brittle pipes. It is an indispensable item in the inventory of any company or municipal service responsible for the maintenance of potable water networks.
